Sportable’s U.S. Expansion Brings Cutting-Edge Sports Tech to Indiana and Sports Tech HQ

Sportable, a London-based sports technology company renowned for its advanced ball and player tracking solutions, has selected Indiana as the location for its North American Innovation Center. By establishing operations in Indiana, Sportable joins the Sports Tech HQ collective, a network of more than 40 sports tech companies benefiting from Indiana’s unrivaled sports ecosystem.

Sportable’s expansion follows the additions of Attend, VOW, BodyPro, and FishBuddy to the Sports Tech HQ Collective in 2025, further cementing Indiana’s position as a global hub for sports tech innovation.

Founded in 2015 by Dugald Macdonald and NASA engineer Dr. Peter Husemeyer, Sportable has pioneered portable chip-in-ball technology that delivers real-time data to enhance athlete performance, coaching strategies, and team decision-making. Operating with a global team of more than 100 people, the company plans to establish its North American Innovation Center as an engineering and marketing hub.

“Indiana’s sports culture and commitment to innovation made it the ideal location for these key operations,” said Dugald Macdonald, CEO of Sportable. “We’re excited to be part of this growing sports tech ecosystem and look forward to expanding our footprint in the U.S. market.”

Initially developed for rugby, Sportable’s proprietary tech has since expanded into the NFL, NCAA Football, the Canadian Football League, Arsenal, PSG, Major League Rugby, and the Six Nations Championship. The company entered the NFL arena during the 2024 season with the Indianapolis Colts, tracking quarterback data and demonstrating the capabilities of its cutting-edge technology. Before that, Sportable worked with LSU and Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback Jayden Daniels, showcasing its ability to deliver high-level insights at both the collegiate and professional levels.

“Sportable’s advanced sensor technology addresses critical data needs in modern sports environments,” said Jeffrey Hintz, Executive Director of Sports Tech HQ. “As they strategically expand into new leagues and sports, Indiana’s robust tech ecosystem and rich sports culture provide the ideal foundation for sustainable growth. Indiana’s commitment to technical excellence and innovation will undoubtedly propel Sportable’s evolution in the American market.”

“This is a significant win for Indiana,” said David Watkins, Senior Vice President of Entrepreneurship & Small Business at the Indiana Economic Development Corporation (IEDC). “Sportable’s decision to establish its North American Innovation Center here reinforces our position as a sports tech powerhouse and creates new opportunities for top talent emerging from our world-renowned academic institutions. With Sports Tech HQ, we’re excited to support their growth and further solidify Indiana as a global leader in sports technology.”
