Sports Tech HQ, a nonprofit organization dedicated to building a strong sports tech ecosystem in Indiana, announced today that Chicago-based tech startup Ganance has selected Indiana for its expanded operations. The decision comes following Ganance’s participation in the 2023 class of Techstars Sports Accelerator powered by Indy, an immersive 13-week program focused on the development of emerging tech companies.
Ganance focuses on increasing the adoption of wearable technology through the development of a revolutionary modular health tracker, a small device that enables users to make any watch a smartwatch. The groundbreaking innovation is poised to eliminate the age-old dilemma of choosing between style and access to tech-enabled health data.
“We are deeply committed to enhancing the sports tech ecosystem in Indiana and supporting transformative companies,” said Jeffrey Hintz, executive director of Sports Tech HQ. “Ganance’s modular health tracker is a game-changer for corporate athletes and the many other users who want access to data without sacrificing their favorite timepiece. We’re thrilled to add them to the growing list of world-class sports leaders and tech innovators that call Indiana home.”
Sports Tech HQ creates opportunities for sports tech entrepreneurs by investing in innovation and cultivating a community of creators. The nonprofit fosters cross-industry collaboration and supports companies through every stage of development—from the first pitch to the final exit.
“Sports Tech HQ has been an incredible partner for us in Indianapolis,” said Alex Ocampo, CEO and Founder of Ganance. “The introductions they made, alongside a community dedicated to innovation, has opened up many new opportunities for our company across the business and university landscape. We’re excited to keep working with Sports Tech HQ as we continue building in Indianapolis.”
According to the Indiana Economic Development Corporation, 99.4% of all businesses in Indiana are small businesses and nearly 44% of the Hoosier workforce is employed by small businesses. By bringing their presence to the Circle City, Ganance will experience the support of Indiana’s bold entrepreneurial spirit and provide new opportunities for Hoosiers to engage with the sports tech industry.
Ganance will have a physical location and staff at the Emerging Manufacturing Collaborative Center (EMC2), a new smart manufacturing hub to support the long-term growth of the state’s manufacturing industry. Located at the 16 Tech Innovation District, this facility will allow innovators, startups and manufacturers to advance research and development and 21st century skills training in smart manufacturing.
Ganance understands that in the fast-paced world of corporate athleticism, professionals shouldn’t have to sacrifice their personal style for the sake of tracking their health. Their innovative modular health tracker integrates seamlessly with any wristwatch, ensuring that individuals can maintain their distinctive fashion choices while prioritizing their well-being.
