FISHERS, Ind. – One of the world’s largest athletic footwear and apparel retailers is making a major investment in Indiana. The city of Fishers announced a $169 million expansion of Fishers District anchored by JD Finish Line, which will establish its North America headquarters in metropolitan Indianapolis, a region that has steadily become a national hub for sports organizations and brands.

Inside INdiana Business first reported this news.

The move reinforces a deep Indiana connection. Finish Line was founded in Indianapolis in 1976 and grew into one of the nation’s largest athletic retailers. When British retailer JD Sports acquired the company in 2018, it kept the central Indiana headquarters, which has remained the base of its North American operations ever since.

JD Finish Line, home to the JD Sports and Finish Line brands, will establish its North America headquarters in The Link, a 350,000-square-foot office complex in Fishers, Indiana. The company plans to acquire the building and begin renovations next year, creating a modern workplace designed to match the energy of its retail stores.

“Moving our North America headquarters to the Fishers District is a major step forward, allowing us to create a modern space that perfectly reflects our sports fashion brand,” said John Hall, CEO and managing director of JD North America. “This location, with its blend of sports and entertainment, retail, and access to recreation, naturally complements the active lifestyle and forward-thinking culture of JD. We are incredibly excited to create a premier, talent-driven workplace that matches the vibe of our retail stores, and we’re proud to join this vibrant new district and grow alongside the city of Fishers.”

The expansion goes well beyond office space. At the heart of it is the new $65 million, 180,000-square-foot Fishers Fieldhouse, which will serve as the home of the Indy Ignite professional volleyball team and a hub for youth basketball and volleyball leagues and tournaments. The facility is designed with flex space for 10 basketball or 20 volleyball courts, just steps from the Ignite’s home court at Fishers Event Center.

“After two incredible seasons, the construction of our beautiful new headquarters at Fishers Fieldhouse, within walking distance of our home court at Fishers Event Center, is a critical next step in the evolution of the Indy Ignite,” said Mary Kay Huse, the team’s president and general manager. “We are so grateful to the City of Fishers for our partnership, and we are also proud to lead the way in Major League Volleyball with this facility. As the league continues to grow, I have no doubt more teams will follow suit quickly.”

The Ignite, who reached the championship round in their inaugural Major League Volleyball season, will anchor a 29,000-square-foot headquarters and practice facility inside the fieldhouse, built for daily training, player development and front-office operations a short walk from their game-day court at Fishers Event Center.

City leaders framed the project as the next chapter for a community that has spent years building itself into a destination. “Today marks another major milestone for Fishers and Fishers District,” said Fishers Mayor Scott Fadness. “With JD North America’s headquarters anchoring today’s announcement, not only are we bringing hundreds of jobs to Fishers, but we’re building on Fishers’ next chapter. The Fishers Fieldhouse will not only serve as the new HQ for Indy Ignite, providing world-class practice facilities just steps from their home court, but also continue our investments in youth sports.”

The vision is a single, walkable, entertainment-driven district. The headquarters and fieldhouse will share a 50-acre mixed-use site next to Fishers Event Center, joined by 167 new apartments and 98 townhomes under Buckingham Companies’ Contrast brand, its first such development in Indiana. Buckingham serves as master developer for the expansion, with the project drawing support from state and regional economic development partners including the Indiana Economic Development Corporation. Fishers Fieldhouse is expected to break ground in fall 2026 and open in late 2027 or early 2028. The City of Fishers shared full details in its official announcement.

JD Sports joins a deep and growing Indiana sports ecosystem. The state is already home to the national headquarters of the NCAA, USA Track & Field and USA Football. USA Gymnastics recently announced a new training and wellness center and headquarters in neighboring Noblesville. The momentum reaches well beyond the Indianapolis area: in June, golf giant TaylorMade and Tiger Woods’ Sun Day Red broke ground on a $58.9 million flagship in Evansville. For a global brand like JD, choosing Indiana is one more sign that the state has become one of the country’s premier homes for sports business.

JD Finish Line and Indy Ignite are part of a deep and growing community of sports organizations based in Indiana.
