Fitasy, an Indianapolis Innovator in 3D-Printed Shoes, Now Part of STHQ Collective
INDIANAPOLIS, IN — Fitasy, a pioneering footwear technology company founded by MIT alumni, today announced its official entry into the Sports Tech HQ Collective. With a mission to “Digitalize, Diversify, & Decentralize the Footwear Ecosystem,” Fitasy aims to transform how shoes are designed, manufactured, and experienced—aligning perfectly with STHQ’s goal of nurturing cutting-edge sports technology in Indiana.

Reimagining Footwear: From One-Size-Fits-All to Truly Custom
Every foot is different and every stride unique, yet for decades, consumers have been limited to standard sizes and mass-produced models that often compromise on fit, comfort, and sustainability. Fitasy’s shoes are tailored to each individual, produced on demand, and built from materials that can reenter the circular economy.
Since its inception in 2024 within the halls of MIT, Fitasy’s founding team, composed of experts in computer vision, spatial AI, 3D printing, and biomechanical engineering, identified three systemic challenges in the footwear industry:
- Inaccurate Foot Measurement: Existing digital measurement apps often yield unreliable data, leading to returns or ill-fitting shoes.
- Excess Waste & Returns: An estimated 30% of online shoe purchases are returned, many ending up in landfills.
- One-Size-Fits-All Manufacturing: Traditional production emphasizes standard sizes and bulk runs, leaving little room for individual customization.
A Commitment to Sustainability and Accessibility
Central to Fitasy’s ethos is the belief that custom footwear should be accessible and affordable for all. To that end, the company sources biodegradable and recyclable materials, partners with regional printing partners for local production, and continuously refines its supply chain to eliminate unnecessary shipping and storage. By reducing inventory overhead and scrapping rates, Fitasy estimates up to a 70% reduction in landfill contributions compared to traditional footwear brands.

“Joining the Sports Tech HQ Collective is a significant milestone for us,” says Eugene, Co-founder and CEO of Fitasy. “STHQ’s network of industry leaders, research institutions, and sports ecosystem partners provides an ideal environment for us to scale our technologies and bring truly customized, sustainable footwear to athletes and everyday consumers alike.”
Looking ahead, Fitasy plans to expand its local production network and develop new personalization tools powered by generative AI and biomechanics research. All the while, the company remains committed to maintaining price points comparable to premium off-the-shelf brands, democratizing custom footwear without a premium markup.
STHQ Welcomes Fitasy to the Collective
“Fitasy’s technology represents a paradigm shift in how athletes and consumers approach footwear,” says Jeff Hintz, Executive Director of Sports Tech HQ. “We’re excited to support Fitasy’s growth and help them connect with research partners, investment channels, and other Collective members to accelerate adoption in Indiana and beyond.”
